This illustration was the first successful result of a weeks work trying to learn to use the 3-D program Blender. It was the result of hours worth of work each day and numerous mistakes and restarts.
Blender is one of a number of open source programs available. It is free and quite advanced. There is a community of users at www.blender.org. There you can download the program and other information. It is, if nothing else, a great way to see if 3-D is for you without having to spend $2,000.00 to do so.
I am working on a head now and, if it works, plan to use it in a poster for Miracle On 34th Street that I am doing for the Waterloo Playhouse.
