This photograph is of one of the bridges that cross the Cedar River. The river devides Waterloo in half. The East side, is where the poor, the downwardly mobile, me, and the other minorities live. The west side is where the upwardly mobile and their kind live. Before the shopping centers, downtown Waterloo was a relatively thriving business community. Now it's an economic ghosttown.
The most recent hope is that a gambling boat might bring a renaissance to the downtown. Time will tell if gambling will become a cultural landmark of this community.
This photo was taken with my 35 year old Nikon 35mm camera and processed in Photoshop.
